Simple Christmas decor

So many people I have talked to lately seem to have one thing in common...they decided not to put up as many Christmas decorations this year.  I have to say that I did the same.

Adding branches and berries that I purchased from a local discount store to vases and containers around the house help add to the Christmas spirit without much effort.

A collage of sparkly ornaments, bits of nature, and candles creates a feeling of warmth.

Wreaths can be hung by a festive ribbon from the curtain rod for a wintery focal point.

This year I saved a heck of a lot of time by not decorating our tree upstairs at all...and I actually liked it better!  It fits in better, because it looks more natural.

Berries seem to be the theme in the house this year.  Adding them around candles and on curtain rods gives splashes of color as well as a whimsical touch.

My 6 year old has always wanted a train and track around the Christmas tree.  On the crazy day...that I will never ever do again...I say that every year, BLACK FRIDAY, I got this train set for a descent price.  I was also able to simplify on decorating our main tree because I only had to set it up.  The five kiddos did the rest.  They did a good job and most of all they really enjoyed themselves.

I want to know how you decorated this year.  Did you simplify or go all out?  Did kids, spouse, friend or grand kids help or was it a solo act?
